located in chicago's struggling north lawndale neighborhood on the southwest side, douglas park is in need of revitalization. an existing fieldhouse serves as the locker rooms for an aging outdoor pool, and an underutilized high school is located in the northwest corner of the park. this project proposes a fusion of the two functions, unifying the school with the park and fieldhouse. the school's existing natatorium and gym are to be replaced by a new community fitness center which includes a new outdoor pool.
